Bizarre Bible Stories is a read-aloud devotional book for parents to share with their children aged seven and up. Dan Cooley shares twenty-six less commonly known tales from the Bible in an informal, folksy style.

Each story begins with a Scripture reference and the point of the devotional. The author expands the short Scripture story with dialog, possible thoughts of the characters, applications to current times, and ideas to have the child think about consequences. Gray boxes in the story tell the parent what questions to ask and notations in brackets provide optional information for the parent to share at his discretion. The story ends with a section of Scripture that supports the point of the devotional.

Recommendation: Most of the stories in this book will be familiar to Christian homeschooled children. The casual style with slang and nicknames for Biblical characters lends itself to unchurched children or children of families who do not read the Bible. Bizarre Bible Stories could be an effective evangelical gift for young people. resources related to this review:'s Christian Faith section for crafts, Bible stories, and much more!
