Picky eaters at your house can make it next to impossible to eat a more healthful diet. Here are a few ideas to help turn the tide!
Try mixing in different foods with the "real" foods. In other words, make spaghetti with browned meat or meatballs that are half turkey, half beef. Try adding a few black or whatever beans in with the red, just a little at a time. -- Sarah
When my children were young, they finished their food at each meal. If they did not, same food was presented at dinner. If the child was absolutely stubborn, it was there at breakfast time. We haven't needed to do that in years. Children really do learn what they can get away with, and what they cannot. Encourage your husband to be a good example in this way, and if he dislikes your food, to tell you in private, not in front of the children. -- Sarah
Start early by feeding your baby a huge variety of foods. -- Martha R.
For older children, serve one or two bites of every food, and make sure that the child eats it! -- Martha R.
Cut WAY back on sweets. Children will never choose vegetables if they can choose sweets instead. If they eat all their dinner, they can have dessert. No dinner, no dessert! -- Martha R.
Try slipping in chopped spinach into your lasagna. My kids don't like veggies either and they eat this. -- Genie
