Here are some tips for the best homemade lasagna, every time!
- Boil your ground beef to reduce fat
- Drain meat VERY well to keep lasagna from being runny.
- Let the lasagna rest after removing it from the oven so that it will absorb the liquid.
- Try making lasagna without precooking your noodles. Use extra sauce, and cover with foil while cooking.
- Use eggs for binder. Try three eggs with meat, spaghetti sauce, cream cheese, cottage or ricotta cheese, mozzarella, and noodles.
Lasagna variations: Be creative with your lasagna! Try these alternative ingredients for more healthful lasagna.
- Use light red or pink beans instead of meat.
- Use TVP or "meatless" instead of meat.
- Try ground turkey instead of ground beef.
- Layer fresh spinach on one of the lower layers.
- Try soy cheese instead of one of the other cheeses.
- Use low fat or no fat cottage cheese.
- Add veggies to the sauce: broccoli, chopped squash, precooked carrot bits, beans.
