Welcome! I am glad you found us! I don't have any great advice, but will tell what I have been doing. I am eating more fresh veggies and fruit. I try to bake and not fry. When I do fry or sautee I try to use something like Pam instead of butter or grease. Don't buy the junk food. If you bake goodies, keep them up and out of sight.

I am sure others will have better advice for you.

My best advice to start with is to shop only the perimeter of the store if possible. That is where you will find the veges, fruits, meats... The real trouble is up and down the aisles. The more fresh you eat, the better. It will seem more expensive at first as the processed foods are priced cheaper, so you can get more in your cart/cupboard shelves for "less" BUT the expense of the health problems that comes from eating the processed (boxed/bagged/preservative filled) foods far out weighs the cost of the "closer to how God created them" foods in the long run.

Butter over margarine, olive oil is good, baking over frying, spices are wonderful, experiment. Try to eliminate white sugar, white flour, white foods in general. The more natural color of the food, usually the more nutrients. Just some basics beginning steps to start.

any carbs, I make sure they are from a wheat source or complex carb. I also eat a lot of plain yogurt to help build the probiotic flora in my gut to help me increase the efficiency of my immune system.

I also make sure I get enough water & fiber. In doing so, I am able to flush the toxins out of my system and it helps me keep extra weight off.

I also do my best to exercise a minimum of 3-5 times per week for 45 minutes or longer.

At any rate, don't overwhelm yourself...start out slow. Make one or two changes each week, if that's fast enough for you. Gradually implement healthy choices into your daily menu plan and you're sure to come out a winner!

Welcome to the group, Miss Princess. We're glad you've decided to join us!
