Location: Sunny Florida! | Well, I'm crazy about Rod and Staff for English. It's very rigorous, explains things well, and gives a solid foundation. For history I'd suggest using "living" books or primary source documents to study whatever timeframe he's interested in. I'm teaching a class called "Early American History: Foundations of Freedom" for homeschooled teens this semester, and we have studied Common Sense, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Federalist Papers plus lots more. I've found it very interesting and the teens have been exposed to documents that most college students don't read today. So, my point is branch out and do what will interest your son! |
