Veteran Posts: 150 ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Georgia | Hi. I just wanted to share with you all something I found last week. I'd been looking for some sort of guide to use with our 8 yr old dd for Bible. Well, the Lord led me to http://children.calvarychapel.com/site/curriculum.htm and it's amazing. It is word for word out of the Bible NKJV. It starts in Genesis and goes all the way to Revelation with a lesson for, like, 161 in the O.T. and 163 in the N.T. First, there is a coloring page relating to the passage (which is perfect for my dd, the coloring master!), then a fill in the blank/ True and False page (with a verse that answers each question), then a wordsearch, and finally, a crossword puzzle. I've started each lesson by reading the passage with her, then we talk about it; and lastly, we do the activities TOGETHER (which is so neat). I started last Monday or Tuesday with her and she has really enjoyed it. On Friday night I was printing out a few more of the coming lessons and she asked if we were going to do one tomorrow. I said no, because we don't do school on the weekend, and she goes, "Awww, I want to, please!" So, I thought about it and realized that I don't only read my Bible on "church" day, why would I make this "school" work? LOL So, we do a lesson a day, now, faithfully. Last night when she got into bed she had her Bible with her and she said she was going to re-read the passage of the day (which was Genesis 3:1-4:1). I asked her about it this morning and she did read through it again. Anyway, just wanted to pass the info. along about this ministry. Did I mention it's all free? Oops. Check it out at the above link! Valerie

Expert Posts: 2267 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Southwest WA | Thank you for this review! We use CEF's 60 day devotionals but we also do devotions at night together. It would be nice to give my youngers something to color while they listen. I appreciate your review!

What is their denomination/statement of faith? this was interesting... http://children.calvarychapel.com/site/tr/tr_a7.htm

Veteran Posts: 150 ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Georgia | Honestly, I didn't investigate the website. My major concern with Christian "products" is interpretation and "retelling" of Bible stories-this curriculum had neither! They don't tell you HOW to teach each lesson nor do they retell the story. The activities they offer for each passage are word for word from the Bible. I was just so thrilled that I had found something that my daughter could do along with reading the Word. She is very kinesthetic and also enjoys crosswords and word searches. This seemed right up her alley and I was right, she loves it. And she especially loves the one on one time with me and the fellowship we have during the lesson. In the past when I've read through Bible storybooks, I've been so disappointed at times when I find out that the story does NOT match the Bible exactly. This was just what I was looking for-no interpretation. Valerie

Member Posts: 34 ![]() Location: Louisiana | I have used the Calvary Chapel site for a long time, mostly for specific lessons at specific times. There are two levels of each lesson, first and second (or maybe it's first, second and third?) and up to 6th. The lessons do not have a TM nor an AK, because it's taken directly out of the Bible. It's made to match the NKJV, so if you're using something else, be aware that the answers may not fit exactly. They don't tell you how to teach, just what passages from the Bible to read. So you can put whatever emphasis you want to on it (which means that some lessons you can do more than once and emphasize different points each time.) For each of the two levels, there are word searches and mazes, and one color sheet per lesson. You can choose which pages to print, and a cd is available free for the asking - they even have the lessons in Spanish, so if you're teaching/learning Spanish you have ready practice material!
