The Values Driven Family is a "how to parent" book that focuses more on the parents than the children. It seeks to provide Biblically-based goals and guidelines for parents to follow in their marriage, during child-rearing years, and at emancipation of their young adult children. The book is broken into four sections with multiple chapters each.
- The Journey to Family Success
- The Parenting Part of the Journey
- Defining the Compass Points
- Parenting on Purpose
Each chapter ends with questions for reflection, suggestions for application, and ideas for further study.
The values driven family is father-led and God-centered. The father must set a vision or goals for raising the children, especially in regards to spiritual training, to train them to have "a sincere heart to obey and follow the Lord."
The authors recommend the Bible for core value training and offer a chart as a way to encourage development of the twelve core values that illustrate a Christ-like character. Practicing these characteristics will allow families to enjoy God's promises of joy, peace, and blessings.
Applying the project management principles learned from corporate life, the authors outline a way to plan and organize the family's direction. Teamwork and communication between the parents is crucial, and Mr. and Mrs. Carrier offer suggestions to start parents on a positive path together.

In our worldly environment, families need to find a road map to the Lord's path, and this book will help them do just that.
