Purchase details: History Songs by Larry and Kathy Troxel. CD and student book, $15.95. Published by Audio Memory. Please support by buying this program from our Christian Book Distributors link

History Songs tells the story of America from 1492 to 1991in eleven songs. The songs particularly emphasize dates and events, but famous people are also mentioned.

The student's book has a slick colorful cover and twenty-four pages. Songs are divided up by year ranges with large expanses of time, 1400 to 1565, for example, for periods that are less active, and small blocks of time, such as 1774 to1799, for action packed years. Each of the songs has two facing pages. The lyrics appear along with some black-and-white photographs and line drawings that relate to the events and people in the song.

Recommendation: History Songs offers a great overview of American history that is sure to help children associate dates and events. As with other Audio Memory programs, History Songs is a painless way to supplement education in the car or on the go.

Our Experience: My history-loving daughter particularly likes this CD, but I find the songs to be similar sounding and have had a hard time memorizing them. The picture selections really add to the lyric pages. resources related to this review:
