Come, Lord Jesus offers family devotions for Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany. For Advent, the devotions are listed by the week, beginning with some Scripture and a message. A poem comes next, and then a hymn, with words but no musical score. A list of Scripture to read throughout the week is followed by a prayer for the week, a table prayer, and a prayer for children to memorize. Traditions such as the Advent wreath, Jesse tree, and Christ-bread are explained.

Devotions for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, the first and second Sundays after Christmas continue in the same manner. Traditions from around the world including luminaria, saying thank you in many languages, Christmas trees, and Boxing Day are discussed. Their relevance to Christ's birth and life is emphasized.

Epiphany devotions are broken into "The Epiphany of the Lord," "The Baptism of the Lord," and "The Transfiguration of the Lord." This section leads the family towards a rebirth -- welcoming Christ through a blessing of your home, renewing baptism of the spirit, and preparing for Lent and Easter.

Recommendation: Come, Lord Jesus is a wonderful, inexpensive resource for devotions for Advent through Epiphany. With its unique approach on traditions throughout the world, this book allows the family to feel the breadth of faith on earth during a season when the entire world rejoices. As Come, Lord Jesus does not offer daily devotions but rather weekly suggestions, it would be a good choice for families that are more mature in their faith.
