When we think of PE, we usually come up with team sports like soccer, basketball, and football. Some homeschoolers don't have time for team sports, can't afford them, or prefer not to participate. What else can you "count" as PE in a homeschooling environment? Many states count a PE "credit" as twenty minutes a day of activity at the elementary age and up to forty-five minutes at the junior high and high school age. Here are some ideas:
Scottish Highland dance
Ballet
Marching band
Brisk walks in the park
Running races in the yard
Roller skating or roller hockey
Swimming
Body surfing
Weight lifting
Chin-up bar
Jumping jacks and other basic calisthenics
Running
Bike riding
Badminton
Hopscotch
Jump Rope
Mini or full-sized trampoline
Rock climbing
Sledding
Snowboarding
Skateboarding
Archery
Softball
Bowling
Horseback riding
Canoeing
Yoga
Punching bag
Golf
Kick ball
