Landmark Series

The Landmark series was published from the 1950's through about 1970. These series, which was originally sold by subscription, focus on world history or American history. The Landmark series is out-of-print. Current paperbacks bearing the name "Landmark" are not the same! Please check with Alibris, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble to find the out-of-print treasures and new re-prints.

The Artner Reader's Guide is an American history program that uses the Landmark series. Laura Berquist, author of Designing Your Own Classical Curriculum, also recommends this interesting, "living" history books. Landmark books are best for established readers, probably best for about fourth- through eighth- graders.
