Bible Songs offers
eleven songs that teach some of the main points of Christianity to children.
Using scriptures quoted from the International Childrens Bible,
the songs have simple wording and straightforward melodies that are
easy to learn. The Bible songs include basics of faith with a version of the Lords Prayer, a list of the Ten Commandments, the Apostles Creed, and the books of the Old and New Testaments. Other songs highlight the New Testament, particularly verses from Matthew, the story of Lazarus, and John 14:6, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. After the eleven songs are sung on the CD, they are repeated with music only. The students book has a slick colorful cover and twenty-four reproducible pages. More than half of the pages are coloring pages illustrating the Ten Commandments and basic Christian messages in large letters. The lyrics of the songs are shown in a basic format with a few black and white illustrations. Recommendation: Bible Songs overviews the basics of the Christian faith using a Bible translation that is easy for young children or new Christians to understand. For those families who are familiar with different versions of the Bible such as the King James, the songs may seem a little odd because the wording of the Lords Prayer, for example, is not the same. Bible Songs is an inexpensive and easy way to memorize and internalize basics of faith. Sound Clip: Click here to hear a sample from the "Ten Commandments" song.
